Job Description:

Operates within highly defined methods and processes. Decisions are subject to close review and are guided by established corporate policy, specific aspects of sales strategy, the sales and marketing strategies of ad sales revenue goals of an assigned territory. As directed, participates in developing parts of sales strategies and plans for assigned accounts. Translates approved corporate ad sales strategies and goals into sales programs for assigned accounts. Maintains a current awareness of competitive ad sales practices, particularly in assigned accounts. Adjusts presentations and selling approaches to explicit and implicit client interests and needs. Sets personal objectives regarding client calling and presentation priorities, follow-up on sales prospects and closing activities. Participates in developing the sales strategies and sales plans for assigned accounts. Applies established analytical and selling skills to identify and evaluate alternatives and to develop or participate in developing aspects of sales tactics for assigned accounts. Participates in supporting assigned agencies and advertisers organizations in the interpretation of ratings, viewer behaviors, event attendance and related information and data. Accountable for the budgeted sales revenues for assigned accounts. Accountable for personal selling expenses and those of supporting sales team. Contributes to the cost effective operation of all levels of the sales team supervised. Leads or participates in sales presentations to clients and potential clients. Maintains ongoing relationships and liaison with purchasing decision-makers or personnel who influence purchasing decisions in agencies and advertisers. Cultivates and maintains contacts with local media buyers. Keeps sales management apprised of progress toward established revenue goals and of the progress in closing identified prospects. Stewards proposals, deals and post-deal analyses.


Required Qualifications

Has a good understanding of internet advertising and sponsorship deals and is able to develop deals that attract and keep customers while generating targeted revenue. Has some local media contacts. Is able to develop deals that attract and keep key customers. Is establishing a track record in media, publishing or advertising sales. Has some success in developing, closing and maintaining strategic advertising accounts and events deals. Typically, incumbent has at least 5 + years of related industry experience with at least 3-5 years of selling experience. Has a working knowledge of marketing program implementation and basic competence in selling. Has basic leadership skills. Has good understanding of the market programs of assigned properties.
