Job Description:
Responsible for managing the operations of the accounting department. Provides technical and administrative supervision. Provides analytical support regarding financial statements and general ledger. Serves as subject matter and provide guidance to employees as required. Develops process and procedures to drive department efficiencies, assist in development, and meeting of, departmental budget.
Responsibilities:
Manages, plans, organizes, and coordinates activities of accounting staff
Ensures accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial data in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals
Monitors and develops procedures to accommodate operational and policy changes
Manages and oversees ongoing internal audit inquiries and external audit processes
Ensures adherence to corporate policies, for internal controls
Reviews monthly balance sheet reconciliations prepared by accountants / supervisors and instructs accountants in necessary changes and advised on adjusting entries as needed
Interacts with Departmental heads on an on-going basis to analyze P&L variances
Perform periodic performance reviews to determine employee eligibility for, among other things, merit increases, bonuses and promotional and transfer opportunities
Interview, evaluate, hire, lay-off, promote and reward employees and/or applicants or effectively recommend such actions
Provide feedback, coaching and disciplinary action (up to and including termination or discharge of employment) to employees, or effectively recommend such actions, to help improve employee performance.
Resolve and adjust employee concerns and grievances.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting
CPA Certification preferred
6 – 9 years of experience, public accounting experience preferred
Punctual, regular and consistent attendance
