The Sports Director will work as an advocate for enhancing the technical capability of students as well as promoting sports within the community while working closely with the Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches, locally and internationally and will manage the sports programme for the Sister Islands, ensuring active participation in all programs.
Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Athletic Training, Physical Education or related field, certification for a minimum of 5 years in coaching and at least 5 yrs experience in a similar role. Applicants should have a proven track record of working with international recruiters of Colleges/Universities and be able to liaise with key contacts to increase the exposure of sport within the Sister Islands and the ability to inspire, motivate and provide effective leadership. Applicants must have knowledge, training and experience in various sports, together with a commitment for excellence.
Desired: Excellent communication, networking and public relations skills. First Aid & CPR certification (current).
Main duties and responsibilities:
1.Developing sports programs and events in Swimming, Cricket, Netball, Football, Track and Field, or Basketball teams in all scheduled practice and games, with some emphasis on developing sports tourism for the Sister Islands
2.Assist in the preparation of strategic plans for the Sister Islands Sports Section and ensure the implementation of programmes within the framework of the Ministry’s policies
3.Provide technical assistance in relation to sports in schools, community groups and other educational, training, sporting and developmental organizations on curriculum improvement including, project planning, and the delivery of service in pursuit of agreed objectives.
4.Market and promote the work of the Section within the community, provide timely information to the Ministry and general public, and ensure the section’s records are maintained accurately
5.Supervise the Sports Coordinator, Sister Islands
6.Liaise with overseas sports personnel on planning events, recruitment and placement of youth and promote youth programs for the Sister Islands
7.Prepare and manage the annual budget
8.Perform any other duties which the Minister or Chief Officer may require to achieve the objectives of the Department and Ministry.
