On to today’s question – from Aaron in Virginia.

Hi Brian – love the podcast, I listen to each episode as often as I can. I’m a college freshman, and I keep reading about people in the sports industry advising everyone to “get started early gaining experience”. I guess that means internships. I’m just a freshman, should I start doing internships now? And what should be my goal to accomplish during my 4 years of college.

Aaron great question and one that I think many people are curious about. And just to be clear, I’m about to blow your mind. I’m going to give you six ways you should be getting real life experience during your college years….and I expect you to do each and every one. For real. If you don’t someone else is, and guess what, they are going to graduate with a more impressive resume than you, and I’m going to hire them, not you.

So there.

We go deep into these six subjects to help boost your sports resume on the Work in Sports podcast QA session so listen in and learn!

1: Internships

2: Volunteer events

3: Conferences

4: Informational Interviews

5: Job shadow

6: Guest authoring or start a blog
