I just graduated from High School and want to know what steps I need to take to get into sport business?

Your college choice is important, make sure you choose a school that has an active athletic department – it doesn’t have to be national championship contending, but you want it to have multiple teams each season that you can get involved with.

Make sure there are sports specific classes you can take, whether it is in sports production, sports management, sports finance, athletic training, sports marketing etc. Not every school has a sports specific major – and that is ok, as long as you are able to take some sports specific classes.

Once you get into school intern as often as possible. If you can’t intern, volunteer, if you can’t volunteer, job shadow. You need to start getting real life experience in the workplace - that is what will get you hired upon graduating.

To start building your network of contacts attend networking events, conferences, speaker series and anything you think like-minded people will be attending. Get to know as many people as you can in the sports industry and ask them questions about how they got to where they are now. Learn from everyone you meet.

Finally, keep up with our blog ,we provide a great deal of insight into building a career plan and exactly what steps to take in order for you to achieve career success.
