Exercise Physiologist - $2500.00 SIGN ON BONUS 

Join a team of 6 Exercise Physiologists and 2 Dieticians that work, live and play in the mountains of Colorado!  Our expanding Cardiac Rehabilitation Dept is opening a second location in the county and looking for an additional staff member to grow the program and offer expertise to the department.  This position spends approximately 80% of time in cardiac rehab and 20% in wellness related activities which challenges your whole scope of exercise and health related skills.  HRRMC Wellness U is home to the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Community/Employee Wellness depts. which includes a 24/7 employee gym, cardiovascular prevention & lifestyle management programs for community, cooking classes, diabetes education, Wellness Retreats at Mt Princeton Hot Springs, COVID rehab and exercise testing.

Chaffee County (pop. 19,000) is home to fifteen 14-foot mountains, world class mountain biking, rafting, & fishing, and endless outdoor recreation in a historic small town setting.  Like many mountain towns in Colorado, we are experiencing housing shortages but our team will assist in relocation logistics to ease the transition.

Full time 32-40 hours per week. 


  • American College of Sports Medicine-Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACMS-CEP),
  • ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP), or equivalent. 
  •  Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)



  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, health & fitness, corporate wellness or related degree.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in implementing a wellness program, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, or group exercise leadership with experience in Patient Assessment, Exercise Testing, Exercise Prescription, Exercise Training and Leadership,
  • Education and Behavior Change, and Legal and Professional Considerations.
  • Proficiency in utilizing effective coaching techniques.  


Cardiac Rehab:
1. Reviews medical and/or surgical history, recent events, co morbidities, diagnostic tests, medications and risk factors.
2. Reviews physician prescription to determine abilities and goals for treatment such as frequency, intensity, time and type of exercise therapy most beneficial to patient. Interview participants to obtain medical history or assess participant goals.
3. Assists patient with exercise program using appropriate monitoring, including continuous ECG and intermittent vital sign and oxygen saturation checks. Modifies program based on patient response as needed and/or requested, while staying within physician-ordered parameters.
4. Provide education and support regarding exercise techniques, stress reduction and coping skills based on the patient risk factors and discharge plans. Notifies the RN and /or physician if any additional patient education is requested or needed.
5. Develop exercise programs to improve participant, strength, flexibility, endurance, or circulatory functioning, in accordance with exercise science standards, regulatory requirements, and credentialing requirements..
6. Performs EKGs, stress testing and Holters to be used by Physician in diagnosis of case.
7. Inspects and tests cardiac/pulmonary rehab therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently. Examines equipment to detect worn, loose connections, or other indications of disrepair, and notifies supervisor of need for maintenance. Orders repairs when needed.
8. Data collection and entry for AACVPR National Registry. Provide monthly/quarterly reports.

1. Lead supervised group exercise classes (Strength & Cardio, Special Population classes, Group Personal Training )
2. Lead group education and coaching programs (Cooking Matters, Diabetes Prevention Program, Health Education Classes).
4. Operate as an innovative, thought leader in wellness programs: contribute significantly to the overall growth & quality of wellness at HRRMC.
5. Perform evaluative procedures necessary to determine proper treatment including, but not limited to: Sub-Maximal Stress Testing, Barometric Measures, Health Risk Assessments.
6. Regularly reassess and modify participant wellness programs.
7. Promoting Wellness Programs to the community and business for education in prevention and treatment options.

Non-exempt: base compensation is based on expereince and ranges from $20.52 TO $25.80 per hour. All offers will be based on applicants years of experience relative to the position.
