Job Description:

ResponsibilitiesThe Encodist II works as part of the Media Operations Team and is responsible for managing digital files from acquisition to archive, and for transcoding to different formats based upon the needs of the facility.Job Duties
  • Digitizing Media for storage in Media Asset Management System
  • Creating Digital Files for External and Internal viewing of edited shows
  • Transcoding files from and to various digital formats. (e.g. MXF to Quicktime, MPEG to MXF, etc)
  • Maintaining archives of digital files for future use
  • Communicating and coordinating with clients concerning their encoding needs. (Determining how the footage will be seen, determining the need for security protections, etc.)
  • Working with FTP servers to deliver and receive files to and from clients
  • Returning of materials to the library
  • Working with the Vantage encoding system to help automate the digitize and transcode operations
  • Manage Media in an Avid Interplay Production and Avid MAM environment
  • Troubleshoot chronic issues with the development staff
  • Provide Workflow SOP feedback and suggestions
  • Authoring SOP documents used by the department for the internal wiki
  • Assist in QA and troubleshooting with colleagues and partners
  • Manage and report status of assigned projects
  • Qualifications/RequirementsBasic Qualifications
  • Understanding of television and post production workflows
  • Understanding of production workflows in a file based production and archive environment.
  • Understanding of digital video and audio formats (e.g., Quicktime, MPEG, AIFF, etc)
  • Understanding of content delivery platforms and how they use video (e.g. Flash, Quicktime, DVD, etc.)
  • Must be proficient in Windows, MAC, AVID, Premiere and Microsoft Office Products
  • Candidate must have good communication skills
  • Candidate must be professional, resourceful and effective
  • Candidate must show a high degree of initiative and collegiality
