Job Description:

Responsibilities

Role Purpose

The Spyder Operator will work with Production and Operations staff in the control room before and during productions. Work will be performed in a fast-paced environment for a wide variety of sporting events and studio shows. The Spyder Operator will be responsible for preparing and switching video elements during live and pre-recorded productions, coordinating with the Graphics and Post Departments for the design and delivery of elements, all while ensuring our content meets high standards of quality. Responsibilities

  • Operation of a Christy/Vista Spyder and Ross/Abekas Mira devices for play-out to air, while maintaining high technical standards.
  • Operation of a Ross Augmented Reality system for the insertion of elements into taped or live shows.
  • Format graphic templates, organize data and prepare effects for live telecasts.
  • Coordinate graphics details with Directors, Technical Directors, Producers, Artists and Operations Managers.
  • Work with the Technical Director to execute a daily FACs check of all pertinent control room and studio source systems related to Spyder and AI technology.
  • Operational knowledge of production switcher timelines, P Bus II and CPL protocol for direct control of DDR's and DVE's.
  • Check content for accurate spelling and grammar
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Television Production or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a live news all-time sports production control room environment.
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a Spyder Operator.
  • Proven ability to quickly identify potential video problems, troubleshoot and resolve.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Including overnights, weekends and holidays and must be able to adapt with little notice.
