Responsibilities

PLEASE NOTE: This is a temporary position with an estimated end date in September 2020, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

Role Purpose
This position is part of the core publishing team for NBC Olympics Digital, working in conjunction with the editorial lead to provide leadership for the NBCOlympics.com editorial team while being responsible for day-to-day editorial maintenance and publishing of content to NBCOlympics.com, the NBC Sports app and other platforms as necessary. This position will also work with NBC Olympics' partners on the distribution of content.

Responsibilities

  • During the Olympic Games, responsible for real-time publishing and updating of content in assigned areas in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while being a leader and go-to resource for a large team
  • Create and maintain daily content budget and schedule, in conjunction with editorial lead
  • Create and maintain Games-time daily priorities and responsibilities chart, in conjunction with editorial lead
  • Day-to-day content creation, publishing and management on NBCOlympics.com and in the NBC Sports app, with a focus on the homepage and featured pages of those platforms
  • Brainstorm content ideas related to the Tokyo Olympic Games in general; guide other producers with content ideation for their assigned sports and athletes
  • Assist with minor edits of short-form video content for NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app, including prepping past Olympic highlights for use before and during the Tokyo Games
  • Write and edit headlines and carry out proper content tagging for both written and video content, ensuring proper style and accuracy
  • Write and edit titles and other metadata for live streams on multiple digital platforms, ensuring proper style and accuracy
  • Coordinate with marketing team on Olympics e-mail newsletters


Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media, Journalism, Communications or a related field
  • Minimum five (5) years' of relevant work experience or related internships
  • Extensive knowledge of sports and internet culture with a true passion for the Olympics
  • Experience publishing content in a content management system
  • Some experience in Adobe Photoshop (at minimum, comfort cropping and re-sizing photos)
  • Some experience in a video design program (i.e., Adobe Premiere Pro and/or Avid Media Composer)
  • Must be fully available for the duration of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and willing to work a flexible schedule

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work well on deadline
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of and passion for multiple Olympic sports preferred
  • Familiarity with AP style and SEO techniques
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and/or other email distribution platforms
  • Must be a team player
