Job Description:

Responsibilities

Role Purpose
The PHP/Node Developer will create and maintain websites and microservices for our digital properties at NBC Sports Group. Responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining features of the NBC Sports Group websites and integrating with the internal systems containing the data that powers them. The PHP/Node Developer works as part of a group of passionate technologists to deliver the best possible sports-related web and mobile applications available. Each member of the team works with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain multiple Wordpress web applications in PHP and javascript.
  • Create RESTful API's and microservices leveraging AWS, node, lambda, API Gateway and other related technologies
  • Enhance and develop CSS for fully responsive/adaptive mobile-first experiences
  • Actively engage in daily scrums and other facets of project planning and management
  • Collaborate with other internal teams and stakeholders to support business requirements
  • Provide support during non-business hours as needed
  • Pursue continuous improvement opportunities associated with existing software development programs


Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in a developer role, working within a technology team
  • Previous experience working with Wordpress (multisite, configuration, parent/child themes, plugins, Gutenberg), or other PHP-based Content Management Systems like Drupal
  • In-depth knowledge of PHP and javascript (ES6+)
  • Experience interacting with RESTful APIs
  • Experience with mySQL database
  • Comfortable with git and can manage operations like branching and merging, submitting pull requests and peer reviewing other's code
  • You should enjoy continually leaning about new technologies and the changes they bring, to become part of our team that delivers solutions for the needs of our ever-changing business.


Additional Qualifications
  • Experience with front end frameworks like Vue.JS or React
  • Familiarity with api architecture and continuous Integration and build processes that include node/npm, webpack, gulp with npm
  • Skilled at Responsive Web Design
  • Experience developing outside of CSS frameworks (no Bootstrap, etc.)
