Accounting Manager EMEA - Amsterdam

We are looking for an experienced financial professional to lead the operations and development of the financial service center function for Brooks in the EMEA region. A motivational and inspirational leader, someone with the ability to manage, engage, empower and develop teams.
In this role you will head up the EMEA finance team for all entities in the region (The Netherlands, Germany, UK & Ireland, France, Italy, Spain and Distributors). You will report to the Director of Finance of EMEA and you will work closely together with the corporate finance team at our global HQ in Seattle.
Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Accountable for the financial operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s financial reported results, and ensure that reported results comply with United States generally accepted accounting principles and/or international and regional financial reporting standards.
Interact with the customers of the regional financial service center to provide the agreed upon level of services and apply strong business acumen to continuously identify opportunities to improve on processes and financial performance. Provide satisfactory level of service to all stakeholders. Drive a customer service culture focusing on service delivery, performance standards and strong stakeholder management.
Equally important is the ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams to a successful program launch.
-Manage the design, implementation and communication of the Finance Services Center roadmap and achieve operational excellence, organizational alignment and drive continuous improvement based on empowerment.
-Manage the operational finance team and direct the overall performance of general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reporting and controlling.
-Focus on talent development, building a strong finance team that works in alignment with business process owners. Keep high standards and spirit of the team.
-Propose budget plans in terms of finance services provided, operating costs and business objectives.
-Working with key stakeholders to establish and maintain high customer service standards and satisfaction and manage the operation of the finance service center accordingly to deliver best practices.
-Use appropriate judgment in dealing with issues and requests, demonstrating an ability to effectively prioritize work, balance resource requirements and determine solutions.
-Effectively triage and manage management’s expectations regarding competing priorities and deadlines, gaining cooperation in resolving issues. Pro-actively engage key stakeholders in performance dialogues to meet the needs.
-Continuously improve internal and external service levels and customers experience and evaluate potential opportunities for migrating additional activities to the financial service center.
-Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
-Manage internal and external audits, including but not limited to the annual financial, income tax and customs audits, and the related provisioning of required information.
-Oversee the general accounting activities for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, metrics, budget forecasts, annual audits, budgets, and fixed assets ledgers.
-Oversee the purchasing activities ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
-Oversee the accounts receivable and customer credit activities to ensure the accurate and timely management of all Accounts Receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, credit limits and collections.
-Oversee bank activities include bank reconciliations, disbursements, and cash flow requirement forecasts.
-Understand tax laws and compliance reporting requirements in all our EMEA countries that impact business model decisions to assure the accurate and timely completion of tax and tax related requirements.
-Ensure all processes are appropriately documented and updated as needed to assure consistency and standardization where possible.
-Establish and maintain systems and internal controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the Company's value based on best practices.
-Seeking opportunities to automate and standardize processes by partnering with HR, IT and business owners.
-Coordinate and direct accounting activities, reporting, processes, priorities and other appropriate activities with the U.S. corporate accounting department.
-Providing support on ad-hoc projects as required and respond to senior management as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial and business needs.
-Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies. Support direct reports in the same development activities.
-Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
-Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
-Leadership skills include flexibility, adaptability, easy-going approach, open to new ideas, collaboration, and hands-on work in a fast-paced environment.
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
-Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in (international) Finance within a mid-sized organization.
-5+ years of experience managing and developing teams in a Financial Services Center.
-Experience with managing under Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and performance metrics and monitoring for in scope activities.
-Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledge.
-Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills (both written and verbal). Customer service orientation.
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
-Results oriented, able to manage expectations, work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
-Cultivate an innovative environment by supporting creativity and high performance teamwork
-Affinity with ERP systems (M3).
-Experience in auditing (one of the big four is considered a plus).
