Job Description:

Sports Management: This program is designed to introduce students to a variety of career opportunities in the sports management profession. Concentrating on negotiation and event planning, students will experience sporting events and venues in New York while interacting with professionals in the sports management field. They will experience life as an agent during their Management Team Simulation and guide their client through contract disputes and off-the-field difficulties. In addition to career exploration, students will develop leadership skills through interactive workshops including: Public Speaking, Personality Styles and Group Dynamics, and Conflict Resolution and Ethical Decision Making. Through these workshops students will discover how to be a leader within their specific field.

TA Roles and Responsibilities

The Team Advisor works with the Program Director to execute all aspects of the Sports Management conference. Team Advisor’s responsibilities include:
• Lead small group discussions and debriefings
• Teach academic and leadership sessions
• Assist Administrative staff, Professors and Leadership Facilitators with program components
• Serve as a chaperone during off-campus trips and evening social activities
• Reside in the dormitory on the same floors as students, serving as a Resident Advisor

Requirements for Employment

Team Advisors are generally current college sophomores- seniors. Current freshman are generally considered for one of our Assistant TA positions. Candidates should have experience working in the Sports Management field and/or business field. Previous work and internship experience will be considered a plus. Candidates should also be pursuing a related bachelor’s degree. NSLC has a primary focus on leadership development. Applicants should have leadership experience and/or training.

Dates & Compensation

Team Advisors will be compensated with a stipend at the end of each of the sessions. Room & board, as well as transportation to and from the conference, will be available as needed. This summer’s sessions are:

New York City, NY: Fordham University (Rose Hill Campus)
July 5 – July 13
July 17 – July 25

Candidates will be hired to work the two sessions at Fordham University (June 30 - July 26)
