Marketing Director

Sports Management

Location: Casa Grande, AZ
Job Status: Full Time
Posted/Updated: 03-09-2017

Job Description:

Passion. Dedication. Drive. All words one would use when describing players on a highly successful sports team. They are also words we use to describe the desired characteristics in our new Marketing Director for Grande Sports Academy.

This unique marketing position will provide the right person an opportunity of a lifetime. We’re looking for an experienced marketing leader who can combine strategic excellence with hands-on practicality. The individual will have a strong desire to be close to the business, have a passion for their work, and employ innovative marketing strategies. It’s not your boring ol’ agency job, sports marketing, or public relations job. Your team may be on the soccer fields interacting with the players one minute, or in the office drumming up press for the academy the next.

Under your direction, the Academy use every means of social media possible to communicate with soccer youth around the country and world. Your team will provide the Business Development group and coaches with materials they need to recruit student athletes such as videos, brochures, web applications, and more. You’ll create marketing strategies online and offline to target potential recruits and their parents. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with the current student-athlete residents and leverage their backgrounds to find more soccer extraordinaire’s just like them. Email, newsletters, blogging, soccer magazines, and on and on
and on…

What you can expect…

This is NOT a position for someone not looking to be challenged or hands on. You’ll be in the thick of it, 24/7: attending games, speaking with coaches, getting to know the student-athletes, interacting with visiting coaches and teams, working closely with the Business Development team and Recruiters, speaking with media, working with marketing vendors and much more. It’s a must that you know every aspect of the business so you can turn around and market it like no other. Your fresh ideas, innovative thinking and passion for the sport will serve you well within this team.

What you’ll be doing…

- Leading the strategic direction of the marketing, branding, public relations and branding for the Academy.
-Refining, executing and managing the entire social media strategy for Grand Sports Academy including videos, blogs, newsletters and content for the website.
-Creating collateral materials to be used by Business Development, Sales and Recruiting individuals that will inform and educate parents and students about the Academy.
-Managing the website content, search engine optimization effort and website maintenance with the goal of ever-increased traffic and awareness of the Academy.
-Finding as many PR opportunities as possible for the Academy and owning the corporate communications strategy from development to execution.
-Building, planning and executing a multi-platform marketing strategy for both the Academy (recruiting students for the school years) and the training facility overall (finding teams to train, camp and compete at the facility).
-Owning the “Brand” – managing the look and feel of the marketing and its messages (words, pictures, logos, colors, etc.).

Skills you’ll need to succeed…

-Comfortable with the technical aspects of blogging (WordPress), emailing and using social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
-Organized and able to handle multiple projects and requests.
-Outstanding communication skills and strong collaboration skills to work with leadership.
-The patience and vision to prioritize the strategies and tactics most important to the business (and generating revenue)
-No “fear” -- - meaning you’re willing to dig in and try your hand at anything -- - creating a video, using new technology, inventing a new tool -- - whatever it may be.
-If you don’t know how to create a graph using Excel, build a PowerPoint presentation with slide transitions and animations, or put a header and footer into a word document, then this isn’t the job for you as these actions in Microsoft Office should be second nature to you.
-The ability to “think like a kid” but “act like a parent” -- - often the student-athletes are the first to find out about us, but it’s the parents that decide to send their kid to the Academy. You need to be able to market to BOTH of them.

- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field.

- Prior experience in advertising, public relations or corporate marketing is mandatory.

- Strong leadership and management skills/experience.

- Ability to satisfy deadlines and contribute extra hours as needed.

- Graphic design capabilities for brochures, banners, flyers and online advertising is preferred.

- Experience working in WordPress and knowledge of advanced website technologies, especially as it relates to SEO and web optimization.
