Job Description:

US Equestrian seeks an organized and self-motivated individual familiar with the sport of Driving to lead, manage, and grow the discipline. Under general direction of the Director of Sport, the Director of Driving will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sport including growing the pathway at all levels, developing programs and liaising with organizers as well as seeking linkages between Combined and Pleasure Driving. The position will serve as liaison to the Driving Sport Committee which is charged with creating the strategic plan for the discipline; producing selection procedures including selection trials; and managing rule changes, budgets, fundraising opportunities, membership growth, National Championships, Developing Programs, HOTY awards, and marketing opportunities. The position requires working with the driving coach, chef d’Equipe, veterinarians, and selectors throughout the year in preparation for the World Championships. The Director of Driving assumes a high degree of determination for change and improvement of the sport with an enthusiastic personality in order to lead, manage and motivate. One must possess the ability to build and maintain effective relationships and to communicate well with a variety of people. A flexible schedule with frequent night/weekend work and travel nationally and internationally is required.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. Six years of directly-related experience may substitute for Bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE: At least three years of professional work experience required, preferably in a sport environment. Experience of Driving at the International (FEI) and National (non FEI) is preferred. An understanding of and involvement in the organizing of Driving Events is beneficial.

SKILLS & ABILITIES: The ideal candidate is extremely outgoing and has strong communication skills. Must be independent and detail-oriented. Must be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office software. Frequent travel is required.
