Job Description:

The YMCA of Greater Dayton is seeking an experienced, energetic YMCA Executive Director to manage an established facility in Huber Heights, Ohio. This position is part of a visionary, experienced senior operations team under the direction of the Vice President of Operations.

The Executive Director will provide primary leadership for the development of YMCA programs, memberships, volunteers/staff and activities conducted by the Huber Heights YMCA. The Huber Heights YMCA is approximately 50,000 square foot full facility including full gym, indoor pool, health & wellness center, multipurpose space, aerobic center, teen center, and fitness factory with two established on-site partnerships (Sinclair Community College and Kettering Health Network). The Huber Heights facility sits on a 48-acre campus including sports fields, the Kroger Aquatic Center and the Eichelberger Amphitheater at the Heights. All of which run under the operations of the Huber Heights YMCA ($2.3 million branch budget). The branch currently serves 3500 membership units and employs between 100 – 200 staff members based on the season. The branch management staff team includes a Senior Membership Director, Health & Wellness Director, Sports Director, Aquatics Director, and Maintenance Director and the Branch Board of Advisors is composed of 15 members representing branch membership and the community at large. This position also provides leadership to the strategic initiatives of the Association and develops programs and systems in accordance with the Association’s strategic plan and YMCA of the USA standards.

Qualifications
Education and Certifications


• Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent education and experience required.
• CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen within 60 days of hire and kept current.

Experience

• Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit agency.
• Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
• Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
• Proven track record in fundraising along with community and partner development.
• Sound budget development, fiscal and facility management background required.
• Solid experience in program planning and membership development required.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
• YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable drivers record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors and suppliers, etc.
• Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.

Essential Functions

• Develops and implements annual objectives for the YMCA Branch as part of the Association’s strategic plan.
• Develops, monitors, forecasts and effectively manages the annual branch operating budget to meet
• Works in partnership with the City of Huber Heights serving as the Parks and Recreation Department
• Oversees the operation of the Kroger Aquatic Center and the Eichelberger Amphitheater at the Heights.
• Works with the appropriate staff to develop and implement the program plan for the branch to meet YMCA objectives and adhere to state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
• Works with the appropriate staff to develop and implement the membership plan, including developing membership sales and retention goals, for the branch.
• Leads and conducts a successful Annual Campaign to achieve the pre-campaign agreed upon goal.
• Selects, trains, leads, coaches, evaluates, develops and motivates Branch staff and volunteers.
• Fosters an inclusive work environment.
• Develops and works successfully with collaborative partners.
• Promotes and advocates for the work of the Y within the community in accordance with Association/Branch strategic and operating plans.
• Recruits, develops and leads the appropriate volunteer structure of the branch, including an active volunteer Board of Advisors.
• Oversees the management of a clean and sanitary, safe and well-maintained facility that meets all state and local licensing requirements.
• Oversees the management of a clean, safe and well-maintained building.
• Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Ensures marketing materials comply with Y branding guidelines and uses Y Voice to effectively tell the YMCA story.
• Ensures maintenance of accurate records for the branch related to programs, facility, and staff.
• Knows and administers the appropriate EAP (emergency action plan) for any situation, including first aid or CPR, work-related employee injuries, etc. Completes incident and accident reports as required.
• Communicates to the Vice President of Operations any concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
• Provides excellent member service and follows membership retention practices of the branch, including responding to inquiries/concerns in timely manner, being courteous and giving sincere attention to members, providing positive and regular feedback to program participants, knowing individual’s names and using their names when speaking to members.
• Increases member and program participant awareness of healthy lifestyle factors.
• Leads goal setting and achievement of outcomes of program task teams, and other assigned committees, of the Association.
• Upholds guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook of the Association.
• Attends designated meetings and trainings.
• Holds effective staff meetings.
• Upholds guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook of the Association.
• Carries out other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations, Management Staff and President/CEO.
