Job Description:

Since the beginning of LSU Athletics in 1893, Tiger sports teams have won 47 national championships in nine different sports (the most in the Southeastern Conference) and have claimed 132 Southeastern Conference titles. With a capacity of 102,321, Tiger Stadium is the sixth-largest on-campus football stadium in the country. LSU has ranked among the nationís top 10 in football attendance 16 years in a row. LSU has also led the nation in attendance in baseball for the last 21 years. Over 1.1 million fans annually pass through the turnstiles of LSU athletic facilities in all sports.

The LSU Athletics Department is currently accepting applications for the position of two (2) Graduate Assistants in the Event Management Department. These positions will assist four full time staff members in the coordination and operation of 20 varsity sports and other special events. They will also oversee 4 paid interns and 15 volunteer game day student workers.

The LSU Event Management Department has seen great success from our Graduate Students and Interns as they have continued their careers with some of the best collegiate and professional teams across the country.


Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assisting visiting teams, producing and updating various manuals for regular season and post season competition, performing set-up, break down and game operations for all home contests, assisting with outside facility rentals, assist in recruiting, hiring and managing student game day staff, maintenance of all department equipment, supplies and resources, assisting in parking coordination operations, and performing other general office duties. These individuals will also work closely and develop relationships with multiple departments throughout Athletics, including the Tiger Athletics Foundation, Landmark Event Staffing, and Chartwells.

The professional staff will assign specific sport responsibilities. The positions will also have the opportunity to gain experience with hosting NCAA championships and other special events.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelorís degree
  • Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and holidays. The availability to work all home football games is mandatory.
  • Highly motivated with a professional demeanor.
  • Possess strong leadership abilities and be able to provide guests with the highest level of customer service.
  • Ability to focus, innovate and succeed in stressful situations.
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Social Media.
  • Admission to the LSU Graduate Program in Sport Management or other departmental approved graduate program required.


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelorís degree in Sport Management or Athletics Administration.
  • One year related experience and career oriented in the sports industry.
  • Knowledge of EMS Software, WeatherSentry, ISS 24/7, Precision Timing, Wanco Message Boards.


    Anticipated start date is August 1, 2017. Scholarship to cover tuition expenses for the Sport Management Masterís Program and $1,000 stipend/semester. Weekly office hours and staff meetings will be scheduled around university classes. The candidates will be expected to continue to work over the summer months and possible additional compensation may be available. The Graduate Assistantship is a two-year commitment, renewable after the first year at the discretion of the athletic department. End date upon graduation (2 year maximum).
