Director, Creative and Marketing Services

This exciting position is responsible for building and leading the in-house Creative Services team. This includes directing and concepting of all marketing communications (online and offline) creative materials, all NYRR race assets and ensuring creative aligns with marketing requirements, follows brand guidelines and meets the requirements of the creative brief. The Director, Creative and Marketing Services position reports to the Director, Marketing & Creative Planning, Operations and Strategic Initiatives.
-Lead innovation, design and exploration of NYRR program, event and race assets.
-Provide design thought leadership to all projects – print/collateral, digital, events, presentations, etc.
-Work directly with senior teams to help establish the creative/marketing objectives, strategies, tactics, and final creative executions.
-Collaborate with the production, graphics/design, and digital teams to develop fresh visual approaches to both project deliverables and presentations.
-Partner with brand marketing communication teams and creative operations to ensure all creative project briefs are clearly defined.
-Maintain NYRR brand image in all creative executions while aligning with NYRR brand guidelines.
-Define/manage team priorities. Create and adhere to current timeline/production processes.
-Lead and approve all creative projects from concept to completion.
-Work with creative operations senior team across all business strategies and process improvements.
-Manage the department budgets.
-Recruit, develop, mentor and retain high caliber creative talent.
-Operate in a high-energy, “can do” environment while displaying an ongoing understanding of roles, responsibilities, schedules, and deadlines.
-Partner with branding agency to ensure consistencies in strategy and execution with all assigned projects. Manage deliverables and timelines on brand agency projects.
-Partner with the Events department on the development and execution of key experiential and event related initiatives
-Experience in identifying and recruiting creative talent and managing and developing creative team members.
-A solid background managing brand development, digital marketing, graphic and interactive design, and event/experiential marketing.
-Proven track record in delivering high quality creative executions on time and inline with the creative brief.
-Strong creative leader who can set strategic direction, manage large teams and inspire creative/design excellence.
-Exceptional work ethic and ability to multi-task and prioritize many projects within a high intensity (workflow) environment.
-Translate marketing objectives into creative strategies.
-Sound creative innovator.
-Strong design background with an eye for composition and design principles.
-Excellent time management, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
-High degree of creativity with hands on design and production skills.
-Exceptional portfolio demonstrating strong creative concepting and innovation.
-Strong presentation and communication skills, including comfort presenting to a C-suite audience.
-Software: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and working knowledge of HTML, Mobile Apps, UX/UCD
-10+ years of related experience leading design teams and studios either within a firm’s marketing organization or at an agency
-BFA or equivalent
