Job Description:

In this critical leadership position, you will oversee a region of 5 to 10 Life Time Fitness Clubs and lead several hundred team members to reach the goals of the company. The Area Director provides daily support to clubs and General Managers through regular communication and club visits while continuously driving corporate initiatives. The Area Director also ensures all clubs meet or exceed financial goals and provides remarkable leadership in the areas of strategic planning, team member management, driving sales and in center business performance, member relations, and mind blowing value. This is a significant leadership role for a highly driven individual.

Financial & Club Operations:

Ensure Key Performance Indicators are met for entire region
Prepare, maintain and manage Operations budget
Utilize inventory management system to control expenses for supplies, maintenance and staffing
Perform systems check lists with General Managers
Preview and approve monthly business plans for General Managers
Complete club executive audits
Reconcile general ledgers and complete business plans
Review DSSR and CRM reports daily

Member & Team Member Relations:

Control attrition by ensuring member satisfaction
Coordinate regional all-club meetings, area management meetings and leadership conferences
Ensure General Managers and Department Heads are certified through Life Time University
Supervise, train, develop, and assess staff to ensure continuous career growth; coach and counsel staff as needed
Make recommendations on hiring, promotions and terminations of staff
Work with recruiting to complete interviews and ensure proper on-boarding of management staff
Provide effective performance evaluations and staff recognition programs
Assist at Life Time Fitness events

Community Outreach:

Work with Real Estate and Development to gain knowledge of competition and demographics and assist in finding new locations
Build ties with local civic groups and governments including Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club, The Lions and The Rotary Club



Four-year college degree


7-10 years of management experience including at least 5 years of multi-unit management experience
Experience in hospitality, fitness, and/or retail industries
Track record of success in a performance-driven work culture
5+ years experience managing profit & loss (P&L) statements/revenue/EBITDA budget

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

Excellent customer service skills
Ability to handle and resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner
Ability to build relationships with members
Knowledge of standard office procedures and computer software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively multi-task with tight deadlines both independently and within a team environment
Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and recommend solutions
Ability to effectively build team
Ability to make decisions easily and quickly
Knowledge of interviewing techniques
Excellent supervisory, presentation, and time management skills
Knowledge of the health and fitness industry
Knowledge of profit and loss statements, general ledgers and accounting
