Job Description:

The Director of Aquatics Safety will work collaboratively with the Director of Aquatics Programming and is responsible for ensuring optimal safety standards at all times in all aspects of Aquatics operations. Will directly supervise Lifeguards and manage adult safety classes. Will assist in the administration of aquatics programs and policies at the Framingham branch and Clearbrook Family Swim Club to include: youth and adult swim classes, aquatic fitness classes, private swim lessons, swim teams and open swim and lap swim scheduling. This position will play a key role in community and member relations.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, Oxygen, and Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, YMCA Swim Instructor certification required.
3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Essential Functions
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT


Is responsible for administrative support of adult safety classes. Provides a minimum average of 20 hours per week of direct program delivery which may also include lifeguarding, teaching, and/or coaching. May assist in program guide development and management and posting of pool schedule and administrative support to swim team.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Provides direct leadership and supervision to Lifeguards, including hiring and training and performance evaluations. Supports and supervises the entire Aquatics staff team in the absence of the Aquatics Director. Supports strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Leads regular in-service training and drills. Administers Quick Check Program.

MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction. Builds relationships with and among members, responds to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a safe and supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new members, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause.

BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

May assist in preparing or submitting payroll. Assists in monitoring of programs to meet fiscal objectives. Monitors activity level in pool vs staff ratios to ensure proper distribution of staff resources. Assists in processing refunds and credits

FACILITY MANAGEMENT

Administers of A.E.D and O2 for the association.Works with Facilities staff to provide program facilities for members that are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations including maintaining safe ratios of guardsand be available on an “on call” basis as required.

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT

Builds and develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT

Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.
