Job Description

The Branch Director will develop, manage, and monitor the branch operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets. They will lead the branch in the annual budget development process and annual support campaign. The Branch Director will have to be a sound fiscal manager generating income from membership dues, program fees and contributions to conduct the work of the branch efficiently and effectively. They will ensure that membership growth and program development relate to community needs and the mission of the association. Oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of staff. Use leadership skills to recruit and develop cause driven staff that is member and service focused. Assist in the development and retention of a strong branch board, program volunteers and fund raising volunteers. They will need to make sure all staff and volunteers work effectively together on annual campaigns, special events and endowment efforts. Provide leadership and motivation to the Westerly Board of Managers to ensure the branch is prepared to meet community needs and services. Work with Branch Membership Director to develop and direct high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies. Direct the branch's strategic planning efforts which include multiyear plans as well as annual. Ensure the safety of all members and staff. Provide safe, clean, and well maintained facilities, property and equipment. This person will be the Branch spokesperson, they will represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop and maintain positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and community members. Provide leadership and direction in crisis situations in unison with the communication plan of the Association. Maintain and file all branch and Association reports and records. Services provided to the community include after-school programs, swimming and sports leagues, gymnastics, enrichment classes, day camps, childcare room, and older adult programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus 5-10 years of successful operational and management experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven track record of successful fundraising. Must be computer literate with MS Word and Excel skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and others in a fast paced environment. Experience in managing a not-for-profit organization's staff, volunteers, facility and budget.

Essential Functions

Manage the branch in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards established by the Board of Managers of the Westerly Branch with counsel and guidance of the Ocean Community Board of Directors.
Manage a total operating budget of $3,000,000
Oversee the 60,000 square foot facility including the gymnasium, pools, locker rooms, wellness center, childwatch, group exercise studios, enrichment classrooms, teen center, and spin studio. The facility includes 2 pools, 9,500 members, a great swim team and nationally recognized gymnastics team. Will also oversee our off site 26 acre day camp with waterfront.
Provide leadership to 6 full-time directors, about 300 part-time staff, and several hundred volunteers.

Required Certifications

CPR, AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.
