Job Description:

THE JOB / Experiential Event Manager

This person joins an established account team to lead the planning and implementation of a luxury lifestyle events platform within a large scale brand immersion program. The Regional Experiential Event Manager (EEM) will be responsible for consulting with our Central regional automotive client to develop and maintain important relationships, as well as build and execute high-end lifestyle events. Main responsibilities include networking within select targeted partners, managing event requests and details, event logistics, and on-site implementation of events. Additionally, this person is responsible for the coordination and management of trained Product Advocates designated within the market. This role also includes overnight travel and non-traditional work hours (night and weekend work). This role will spend a minimum of 2 days per week at client's offices in Schaumburg, IL, as schedules and workload dictates.

THE WORK YOU'LL DO

  • Identify and network with targeted partners of the brand to build relationships and event opportunities within the luxury category
  • Build and maintain relationships with dealers within region as well as with key existing partnerships
  • Manage event planning, implementation and execution, including budgeting, invoicing, partnerships, vendor and supplier relationships
  • Create event communications, program reporting, run of shows and wrap-up documents
  • Manage Product Advocate travel calendar
  • Manage invitation process for events, including customization of invitation templates, tracking RSVPs, and providing program details to guests
  • Manage budget and cost savings directly with client's purchasing department for each event
  • Position will also support other event types, including mass market, driving, dealer and other events, as needed
  • Events may require coordination with individual dealers
  • Other related duties as reasonably assigned


Qualifications

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR


•You have a passion for and expertise in sports, entertainment, gaming, music and/or celebrity & lifestyle culture
•Bachelor’s degree
•5+ years’ of experiential marketing, event planning, tour management and/or product specialist experience
•Automobile and/or luxury goods marketing experience a prerequisite
•Experience with the creation of detailed program and marketing planning documents and timelines
•Ability to concept events that attract target luxury segment while taking into consideration location, regional preferences, seasonality and tier strategy for automotive marketing
•Experience managing partner relationships including dealers, vendors, suppliers, and assets with some negotiation skills
•Capacity to become an expert on client’s brand and the state of client’s industry
•Proven supervisory experience with the ability to hire, manage and mentor staff
•Experience managing, maintaining and reconciling budgets
•Proven success in building positive client relationships as well as managing “up and down”
•Demonstrated ability to effectively problem solve and work effectively under pressure while working as both part of a team as well as independently
•Networking skills for partnerships that span from small, luxury goods and services up to large financial institutions
•Networking skills with understanding of techniques required to connect with influencers in region as well as dealer marketing area
•Training experience to explain above networking skills to internal team as well as dealer personnel
•Excellent communication skills: polished, poised, articulate and engaging
•Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
•Business development support: interest and willingness to support growth opportunities for clients and Octagon
•Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
•A writing, PowerPoint or case study assignment will be part of the hiring process
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office with the possibility of specific skill set depending upon position (i.e. PP, Excel)
•Collaborative in nature with a “no job is too small” attitude to assist with overall account team duties and additional programs as needed
•Ability and flexibility to work non-traditional hours including weekends/holidays and travel within the region extensively
•Personal vehicle to use for business travel (mileage will be reimbursed)
•Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
•A background check is part of the hiring process and includes but not limited to a motor vehicle report (MVR)
•Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; position may involve event set-up/strike and moving event materials
