Job Description
Job Summary:
The Major League Operations & Pro Scouting Associate will support key functions within Baseball Operations, gaining exposure to roster management, player transactions, pro scouting initiatives, and administrative processes. This role is designed for individuals seeking hands-on experience in a front office setting. The Associate will assist with research and reporting, contribute to player acquisition discussions, and support cross-department collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to learn the operational and strategic elements of a Major League front office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with roster tracking and player movement processes, including transactions, waivers, Rule 5 Draft planning, and free agency tracking.
- Support player acquisition efforts through background research, scouting information collection, and roster planning exercises.
- Help prepare internal reports and organizational summaries related to Major League and minor league clubs.
- Contribute to the preparation of salary arbitration materials and contract-related documentation.
- Assist with tracking and reporting on team payroll and other budgeting activities.
- Conduct ad-hoc research and analysis on industry trends, league rules, and internal operations.
- Participate in quality control processes to ensure accuracy of internal databases and scouting tools.
- Help maintain internal communications across Baseball Operations groups, including Pro Scouting, Analytics, and Systems.
- Support the documentation and tracking of scouting coverage, vendor relationships, and administrative workflows.
- Stay current with league-wide activity and news relevant to roster, scouting, and player evaluation practices.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of baseball operations, player evaluation, and league rules; prior experience or coursework in these areas is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with SQL, R, Python, or other data tools is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the baseball calendar.
Working Conditions:

- Evening, weekend, and holiday hours are required.
