Summary

Mossyrock Jr/Sr High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Cross Country program as a Head Coach. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cross country running, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. This role involves not only coaching athletes in their physical training but also mentoring them in personal development and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement training programs tailored to the needs of individual athletes and the team as a whole.
  • Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and productive training environment.
  • Monitor athletes' progress and provide regular feedback to enhance performance.
  • Schedule and coordinate participation in meets, including transportation and logistics.
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive culture among athletes.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
  • Collaborate with other coaching staff and school personnel to promote a holistic approach to athlete development.
  • Stay updated on best practices in coaching, training techniques, and athlete safety.
  • Manage team budgets, fundraising efforts, and equipment needs.
  • Represent the school and program at community events and engage with local running organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience, particularly in cross country or distance running, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of cross country training principles and athlete development.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire high school athletes.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures related to sports.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for practices and competitions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to transport athletes as needed.
