Basic Function:
Reporting to the CLU Masters coach coordinator and the designated university director of CLU Masters Swimming, the position is responsible for performing the defined coaching duties in adherence to the policies, rules, and regulations of the university and United States Masters Swimming.

Representative Duties:

• Plans and delivers a practice that is at an appropriate level of difficulty and ensuring the safety for the varied participants in every practice.
• Offers encouragement and technical advice to the participants.
• Serves as on site host/liason to include duties such as admitting participants into the facility, greeting prospective participants and describing the Masters Team, issuing and retrieving any required swim gear, communicating with the lifeguard and the CRPD staff, making sure all conditions and activities are safe, supervising any laneline conversion of the pool between 25y and 50m, ensuring all participants depart the facility at the conclusion of the practice, and reporting the attendance list to the CLU Masters Coach coordinator

Knowledge Of:

• University, CRPD, and USMS rules and regulations.
• Techniques and strategies to provide an interesting and appropriately challenging practice to all participants.
• Basic safety, liability, and risk management issues.

Ability To:

• Manage different levels of swim ability to deliver an appropriate practice.
• Teach fundamental to high level skills to participants.
• Communicate effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: Five years of experience combined swimming and/or coaching at the youth level and above.

Preferred Qualifications:
Five years coaching experience at youth level and above.

Licenses and Other Requirements:
Member United States Masters Swimming.
Coach certification. United States Masters Swimming.

Physical Abilities:
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and hear to exchange information.
Actively able to coach on pool deck for 1 hour in all weather.

Working Environment:
On deck, Samuelson Aquatic Center, with exposure to various weather conditions.
