Job Description
Bishop Dunne Head High School Softball Coach
We seek to hire a part-time high school softball coach who will advance the mission of the school, mentor and help develop student-athletes as softball players, and be a positive participant in the school culture, including advancing the Catholic identity of the school, and develop positive relationships with school colleagues and administration.
The part-time, stipend paid position will be for the 2025-2026 Academic Year . This is a part-time coaching position only; a full-time opportunity is not associated with coaching opportunities. For full-time teaching opportunities, please visit www.bdcs.org .
Candidates must have availability Monday – Friday after 3:30 pm and occasional weekends during softball season.
Education/Experience Requirements:
· Have a minimum of 2-3 years Head Coaching experience at the high school level or above level
· Experience playing softball at the high school level or above preferred
· Teaching certificate a plus, but not required
· Complete National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) Fundamentals of Coaching Course
· Complete annual NFHS Concussions in Sports Course
· Possess a superior knowledge of softball including, but not limited to, knowledge of training and conditioning techniques and the ability to diagnose player deficiencies and prescribe corrective activities
· Having a CDL is a plus, but not required
Necessary Outcomes :
· Softball players graduate from Bishop Dunne Catholic School
· Middle School softball players matriculate in the Bishop Dunne High School
· Head Coach is responsible for all programs - this includes assisting with JV and MS teams when needed
· Softball players develop skills to allow them the opportunity to continue to play at the collegiate level, if desired and appropriate
· Softball team works toward the goal to be competitive against TAPPS district competition
· Softball coach promotes the Catholic identity of Bishop Dunne by actively participating in mass and other religious activities
· Softball coach plays an active role in the school outside of softball as teacher, administrator, or staff member
· Softball coach will participate in admissions activities to support the enrollment efforts
· Softball coach will build softball staff who embrace the mission of the school and promote the values of Bishop Dunne
· Softball coach will work collaboratively with athletic administrators and business office to build a budget that is reasonable, and stay within that budget each year
· Softball coach will show appreciation for athletic support groups such as marching band, cheerleaders and drill team and show respect for the students and leaders of those groups
· Softball coach will embrace the history of Bishop Dunne and reach out to softball alumni and alumni parents

· Softball coach sees her/himself as part of a team of school staff who work together to advance the mission of Bishop Dunne Catholic School
· Softball coach appreciates and supports the Catholic identity of Bishop Dunne
· Softball coach has integrity and demonstrates it in dealings with all constituencies
· Softball coach demonstrates a deep understanding of the game of softball and can adjust to the talent and skills of current players
· Softball coach hires a staff who can develop players and appreciate the talent of the players present at Bishop Dunne
· Softball coach demonstrates an ability to be a motivator of student-athletes
· Softball coach organizes and plans in-season and off-season training
· Softball coach has the ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences: students, parents, coaches, faculty, alumni and administrators
· Softball coach understands the importance of developing an offseason training program (fall ball)
