Award-winning Modern Sailing School & Club is hiring a Fleet Maintenance Technician at our Berkeley location. We have been teaching ASA sailing courses and providing charter services since 1983. The San Francisco Bay is a world-renowned sailing venue and an ideal place to learn how to sail.

We are seeking an energetic Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is 40 hours per week including work on the weekends.

Job Summary

Working in Berkeley, the Fleet Maintenance Technician will coordinate with all Fleet Team members and Crew Chief to maintain a reliable, safe, and attractive fleet of sailboats.

General Areas of Responsibility Include:

Charter Readiness: Assess, clean, and prepare boats between charters
Activity Readiness: Prepare boats for upcoming special activities (multi-day
Customer Service: Assist customers when necessary. Troubleshoot issues, help locate charter items, replace missing or broken items
General Services: Complete daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly checklist for all boats in the fleet: refueling, filling freshwater tanks, holding tank pump-out, and interior and exterior cleaning of all boats
Sails and Rigging: Repairs and/or changes as needed

Specialist Skills:

Troubleshooting boat issues
Sail and Rigging Repairs and/or changes
Fiberglass & Gelcoat Repair
Marine Electrical and Electronics
Marine Carpentry
Marine Plumbing

The ideal candidate is someone who:

Is self-motivated, has a great attitude and works efficiently
Has sailboat maintenance experience and enjoys working on boats
Is team-oriented and has good communication skills
Can adapt easily to changing conditions and focus on solutions
Has sailing experience and speaks sailboat
Is punctual and has reliable transportation
Must be willing to work 1 weekend day

Compensation will be based on skills and relevant experience ($20-$26 hour). After 3 months of employment, team members are eligible for complimentary sailing classes and other benefits.

Our day starts at 8 am sharp and ends at 5 pm. 1 hour lunch break. Occasional overtime may be required.
