From our state-of-the-art seven-court facility (Virginia Volleyball Center) to our progressive programming, we offer a clear and meaningful path for youth athletes and their families.

The Opportunity

NVVA is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization into its next stage of growth and excellence. The CEO will serve as both the strategic visionary and operational leader of NVVA, overseeing business strategy, club operations, staff leadership, and community engagement. This is a rare opportunity to guide a respected youth sports nonprofit in shaping the future of volleyball and youth development in Northern Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of NVVA’s multi-year strategic plan.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new programs, partnerships, and revenue streams.

  • Stay ahead of trends in youth sports and incorporate best practices into club strategy.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality programming and member satisfaction.

  • Manage the budget, financial planning, and resource allocation.

  • Ensure legal and safety compliance across all activities and facilities.

  • Ability to implement scalable systems, automations, and process improvements to support program delivery and staff efficiency.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing staff and coaches.

  • Cultivate a collaborative, positive culture focused on athlete development and operational integrity.

Community Engagement & Business Development

  • Represent NVVA externally, building strong partnerships with schools, sponsors, donors, and community stakeholders.

  • Lead marketing, communications, and outreach to grow club visibility and participation, including NVVA’s digital presence and customer journey

  • Drive fundraising efforts, including sponsorships, grants, and donor relations.

Board Relations

  • Serve as the liaison to the Board of Directors, providing regular performance updates and strategic counsel.

  • Collaborate on governance, policy development, and long-term planning.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Nonprofit Leadership, or related field.

  • 5+ years of volleyball club leadership experience or similar

  • 5+ years of volleyball coaching experience.

  • Demonstrated success in business development, operations, staff management, and community relations.

  • SafeSport certified and able to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Strategic, results-driven, and mission-oriented.

  • Experience navigating pay-to-play dynamics, parent expectations, and equity concerns within a nonprofit or youth sports environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Deep understanding of the youth sports ecosystem.

  • Passion for empowering young athletes and growing the game of volleyball.

  • High integrity, emotional intelligence, and professionalism.

Performance Metrics

  • Financial and programmatic goals met annually.

  • Member growth and retention.

  • Strong external partnerships and community engagement.

  • Board satisfaction and alignment on strategic direction.

  • Staff development and retention.

Work Environment & Expectations

This role is highly visible and hands-on. It requires a leader who is both a visionary and an executor—comfortable making decisions, motivating teams, and rolling up their sleeves when needed. The position may require evening/weekend hours during peak seasons or events.

Why NVVA?

  • Purpose-driven work with real community impact

  • Well-established brand and dedicated facility

  • Opportunity to innovate and grow one of the region’s premier youth sports organizations
