If this sounds like you, join us on the Enterprise Team at Montgomery County Parks in Wheaton, MD Montgomery Parks seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional Facility Manager to oversee the Wheaton Sports Pavilion and the Wheaton Miniature Train Station and Carousel
The Facility Manager will oversee the Wheaton Miniature Train Station and Carousel and assist with managing the Wheaton Sports Pavilion This position will assist with the daily operations, camps, programs, rentals, and special events at the Wheaton Sports Pavilion-a covered synthetic turf field lined for field sports such as soccer and lacrosse The Facility Manager will also be responsible for staff supervision (Train & Carousel staff, Sports Pavilion staff, instructors, and camp staff); facility and equipment maintenance; creating, implementing, and providing oversight for programs, camps, and special events; administration; Miniature Train and Carousel facility budget preparation and oversight; marketing; and customer service

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT DUTIES
What the job will involve:
Manages the overall day to day operations of the Wheaton Train & Carousel
Assists with managing the daily facility operations at the Wheaton Sports Pavilion
Helps develop and implement long term goals and operational procedures (eg hours, rules, safety, etc)
Assist with the programming (camps, programs, rentals, and special events) at the Wheaton Sports Pavilion and Miniature Train Review and approve instructor payments Conducts research to identify trends or seek information that would be useful to develop programs and evaluate them Assist with program registrations for camps and programs at the Wheaton Sports Pavilion
Supervises designated staff Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates seasonal staff to assist with operations, camps, and programs Ensures all staff receive various trainings (CPR/First Aid; Defensive Driving, Customer Service, Youth Camp Standards, etc) Conducts performance appraisals
Coordinates schedules for facility rentals, parties, and camps at the Wheaton Train & Carousel and the Wheaton Sports Pavilion
Manages customer service activities at the facilities Sets a positive example for employees ensuring customers are treated in a prompt, professional, respectful manner
Prepares budget formulation of the Wheaton Train & Carousel and assists with the Wheaton Sports Pavilion's budget regarding projected revenues and expenditures Responsible for regularly monitoring revenues and expenditures within approved budget and reporting them to Management Prepares financial reports and recommendation of fees
Coordinates maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities
Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as cash reports (collects and deposits revenues); records facility inventory (tools, office supplies, resale, etc); approving staff timecards; document maintenance needs and staff schedules
Works on project planning and facility improvements
Assists with marketing the facilities Works with marketing staff to promote facilities and amenities through various media outlets, including social media (Facebook, websites); assists with the preparation of marketing materials such as brochures and flyers Reviews and monitors facility websites for needed changes and updates by the marketing department
Coordinates annual safety inspections to ensure the Wheaton Miniature Train & Carousel are in compliance with Maryland Amusement Ride Regulations (DLLR)

Ability to effectively communicate and lead a team of people
Ability to synthesize data and transform it into coherent strategic work plans
Demonstrate the ability to manage complex problems
Superb written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills Proficient in office software (MS Office), software for planning, scheduling, communicating (email), word processing, collecting and reporting data, preparing presentations, and researching information
Proven ability to approach and interact with people of all backgrounds and the ability to think collaboratively with various members of the organization
Comprehensive knowledge of recreational facility management, safety and health regulations, budgeting principles, program and special event planning, procurement practices, cash handling, etc
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Management, Facility Management, Education, Business Administration, Physical Education, Communication, Leisure Services, or any related field
One (1) year of responsible professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, leisure services, or area of required specialty (eg, arts, performing arts, tennis, aquatics, ice rinks)
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total five (5) years
Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position
Contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require valid: (a) operating license (eg, county pool operator, childcare license) as appropriate; (b) First Aid, CPR, and automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications; or (c) certifications as related to assignment (eg, Lifeguard Instruction, Fundamentals of Gymnastics)
