The Villages Charter School (VCS) opened in August 2000 and is one of the most successful public charter schools in Florida. In fact, VCS has been a " High Performing Charter School ", earned a " School of Excellence " and has received 21 straight "A" ratings from the Florida Department of Education! This year, VCS earned the “ Cognia School and Systems of Distinction ” from the international accreditation group Cognia.

The Villages Charter School spans two campuses. Our Buffalo Ridge campus has three elementary attendance centers and one middle school building. Our newest campus, “Middleton”, opened in August 2023 with a K-8 center and a state-of-the-art high school complex.

VCS currently serves over 4100 students, kindergarten through 12th grades with an overall capacity of 6500 (500 students per grade level) across both campuses.

DESCRIPTION:

The Villages Charter School is accepting applications for a Receptionist at the Central Office.

Applicants must complete The Villages Charter School online application. In order for the application to be complete, you must also include copies of all transcripts and resume.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

To contribute to the efficient operation of the Central Office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The expectations include the following and other duties as assigned:

  • Greet all visitors courteously, determine their needs, and direct them to the proper person/location. Answer the phone.
  • Use effective, positive interpersonal communication skills.
  • Compile and type from copy, rough draft or general instructions, letter, reports, bulletins and other routine correspondence.
  • Maintain significant knowledge of school rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Perform data processing procedures required for various testing software systems with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidential information files and assessment information
  • Assist with duties associated with the Central Office responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the successful performance of the tasks assigned.
  • Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines including computer office application programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is quiet.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The length of the work year and hours of employment shall be full-time for 260 days beginning on July 1. Benefits shall be paid consistent with the VCS policy. The length of the work year and hours of employment are those established by the Board.

EVALUATION:

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of TVCS policy on evaluations of personnel.
