Student Worker - Communications - Sports Writer

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Sports Writer positions write copy for battlingbishops.com and other outlets, ranging from features to game recaps to releases. There would be additional opportunities for work in the press box at various home varsity athletics contests, assisting with compiling and recording statistics, and additional game-day operations as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Prior experience in sports writing is required.
• Candidates will be asked to provide writing samples, either online or clips.
• Experience working with deadlines and communication regarding same are strongly desired.
• The ability to handle multiple projects is helpful.
• Experience with keeping statistics and with scoring rules are a plus.

Hours:

Hours for the Sports Writer are flexible with the ability to arrange interviews and writing based upon both their schedule and the schedule(s) of others. The hours for working in the press box are late afternoons and evenings during the week, Saturday afternoons and evenings, and Sunday afternoons. These hours often fluctuate from week to week, depending on the home schedules.
