POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Cheer/Dance (Spirit) Coach is responsible for the organization and administration of NEO's intercollegiate spirit program. This position shall ensure that the program is of the highest possible quality on a regional and national level and is consistent with the College's goals, culture, and mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Organizes and administrates the following areas of the NEO Spirit program:
Recruiting
Budget and fund raising
Strategy and tactics
Program organization: practice plans, scheduling, travel arrangements, home events management, etc.
Coaching staff
Discipline, morale and residential living of student athletes
Academic monitoring and instruction for student athletes
Instruction of athletic and personal skills
Provides leadership and role modeling to the college community, including the administration, assistant coach, student athletes, faculty, staff, officials, and boosters.
Inspires cooperation and communication between the Spirit program and college constituents.
Demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to the rules of the NJCAA.
Provides supervision of NEO student athletes.
Serves as the College spokesperson to external constituencies pertaining to the NEO Spirit program.
Exhibits and inspires good sportsmanship and personal character.
Engages in additional activities and duties as assigned by the President, VPAA or Director of Athletics.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required (or working towards degree) and Master's degree preferred. Previous college coaching experience.
