Assistant Superintendent

The Assistant Superintendent supports the daily operations of the Golf Course Maintenance department, including turfgrass and plant material maintenance, property and asset management, and expense forecasting. This role schedules and maintains irrigation systems, applies pesticides, maintains accurate records, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements as directed by the Superintendent.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
  • Current State Pesticide Applicators License or ability to complete it within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Preferred: Associate degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • Preferred: General knowledge of business administration practices and golf course operations practices and procedures.
  • Preferred: Strong technical knowledge of equipment, products, and resources related to Golf Course Operations.
  • Ability to implement resources to meet or exceed company and club standards.
  • Assist the 1st Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent in providing agronomic direction for the healthy growth of grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials on the golf course and clubhouse grounds.
  • Coordinate the application and documentation of chemical treatments in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support oversight of the crew, including scheduling and assigning tasks as directed.
  • Provide hands-on training to employees in technical skills, operations, and safety while adhering to OSHA standards and club protocols.
  • Ensure the safe use and proper maintenance of golf course mechanical equipment.
  • Assist in implementing maintenance programs established by the 1st Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent.
  • Participate in regular meetings with management and staff to review operations, maintenance, golf activities, and address safety and environmental concerns.
  • Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks assigned by management.
  • Follow company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Maintain professionalism and commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
  • Follow safe working practices and encourage others to do the same.
  • Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources and support regional and corporate teams.
  • Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities.
