The General Manager directs and oversees all aspects of the facility, including its activities and relationships between guests, associates, and the community. This role holds ultimate responsibility for maximizing guest satisfaction, agronomic conditions, and financial performance, and reports directly to the Regional Director of Operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or five or more years related experience and/or training in both golf operations and agronomy; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong people and communication skills as well as business acumen.
  • Experience with golf course/clubhouse renovations is a plus.
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform the duties of the job.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Regularly stands, walks, and sits.
  • Occasionally may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, taste, or smell.
  • Regularly uses hands to finger, feel, or handle; reaches with arms and hands; talks or hears.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget, revenue goals, expenses, and various business volume forecasts.
  • Monitor financial reports/statements and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly reporting to owners on financial and operational activity.
  • Establish and monitor personnel policies, training, and professional development programs.
  • Ensure Human Resources procedures and policies are followed by management staff in coordination with Troon Human Resources support.
  • Develop, maintain, and administer a sound organizational plan and initiate improvements as necessary.
  • Maintain membership with the PGA or GSCAA and CMAA and other professional associations as applicable.
  • Oversee the care and maintenance of all physical assets.
  • Develop an annual agronomic plan and work with the Superintendent and agronomy team to implement it successfully.
  • Assist with developing and coordinating marketing programs with Troon’s Regional Marketing Director/Team.
  • Implement policies and procedures for multiple departments and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Interview, hire, train, plan, assign, direct work, evaluate performance, reward, and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Ensure effective orientation and training are given to each new associate.
  • Directly manage department members including, but not limited to, the Pro Shop and Merchandise Manager, Superintendent, and Administration Manager.
  • At times, assist in the pro shop checking in golfing guests.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
