St. James Bay Golf & Pickleball Resort – Carrabelle, Florida St. James Bay Golf & Pickleball Resort is seeking a dedicated and handson Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated turf professional who wants to grow their career while contributing to the maintenance of a beautiful, environmentally certified coastal golf course.
About the Course
St. James Bay is an 18hole championship course located along Florida’s Forgotten Coast. As an Audubon International Certified Sanctuary , we prioritize environmental stewardship, water quality, and wildlife protection while delivering excellent playing conditions for members, guests, and the local community.
- Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field
- Minimum 1–3 years of golf course maintenance experience
- Experience with irrigation systems preferred
- Leadership qualities in managing a crew of maintenance workers preferred.
- Floridia pesticide application license preferred, or ability to attain one within 3 months.
- Strong understanding of warmseason turfgrass management (Bermuda, Paspalum preferred)
- Experience with irrigation systems (Toro or Rain Bird helpful)
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays as needed, minimum of 55 hours per week
- Strong communication skills and a positive, teamfocused attitude
- Assist in all aspects of turfgrass management , including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and native areas
- Lead, train, and motivate the maintenance team in daily tasks
- Oversee irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repair
- Apply fertilizers and pesticides in accordance with state and environmental guidelines
- Monitor course conditions and communicate needs proactively
- Operate and maintain a wide range of turf equipment
- Support planning and execution of cultural practices (aerification, topdressing, verticutting, etc.)
- Ensure safety standards and best practices are followed
- Contribute to longterm agronomic planning and project execution
