Title: Secondary Teacher
Calendar/Contract: 182 Days, plus an additional 21-day contract
Salary Schedule: Educator Salary Schedule (figures do not include pay for extra 21 days), plus the AD stipend

Job Overview:
The incumbent oversees the school's sports programs, ensuring they run smoothly and effectively. This role involves managing budgets, scheduling games and practices, hiring and supervising coaches, and maintaining athletic facilities. Athletic directors also ensure compliance with school policies and state regulations, promote sportsmanship, and foster a positive environment for student-athletes. ADs often collaborate with other school administrators, parents, and community members to support the overall development and success of the athletic programs.
Roles & Responsibilities (not exhastive):
Become a nationally-certified AD
Attend appropriate region/state/national level meetings
Oversee/sign Purchase Orders (P.O.s)
Allocation of funding & management of programs' budgets
Oversee athletics facilities improvements/ projects
Fundraising for athletics/extracurricular programs (school-wide) & facilities/projects improvements
Develop ties to community/business partners and seek donations/support
Scheduling/calendar for athletics/extracurricular programs' fundraising events
Prepare fields/facilities for home games/activities and practices
Manage/facilitate concessions for major sports/activities
Manage/coordinate teachers' Extra Responsibilities (2 per year) sign-up/follow-through
Coordinate clean up efforts following home games/activities with the night custodian
PR, connections & relationship-building (Recreation Dept., Boys/Girls Club, Comp Coaches) with community groups
PR, connections $ relationship-building w/ feeder schools AD, coaches and advisors
Recognition of community patrons/donations
Promotion of athletics/extracurricular programs, student-athletes and events in the community
Completion of eligibility forms (UHSAA) and online management of RegisterMyAthlete
Completion of RegisterMyCoach requirements and management of online platform - and all required trainings for coaches
Help to manage appeals and hearings regarding school's student-athletes (UHSAA)
Conducting pre & post season coach meetings for sports/programs
Mentoring coaches - How To's (i.e., How to conduct a parent meeting, deal with an upset parent, prepare for end-of-year banquet speech, hone organizational skills, create team/program disclosures properly aligned to school/district policies, order new equipment!)
Plan, provide and oversee training required of coaches, along with additional needed training/development for coaches
Conduct (with head coaches) preseason parent meetings for sports/programs
Direct student-athlete recognition efforts (Athlete of the Week, All-Area, All-Region, All-State, scholarships earned/signing dates)
Direct Male & Female Student-Athletes' Awards (Outstanding Athlete/Gold Watch, Scholar Athlete, Distinguished Athlete) - Awards Assembly (Spring) & other accomplishments of programs/student-athletes at Awards Assemblies
Athletic Awards Assembly (find speaker) - (Spring)
Manage/facilitate the Athletics Hall of Fame, committee, inductees, related events
Plan and facilitate half-time events for marquee games/activities
Apparel/spirit items for student body
Schedule & coordinate pep assemblies w/ Marching Band/Drumline
Athletics representative for weight room, Drill Team, Cheerleaders, Student Government, custodial staff, Music/Band, Drama & Forensics/Debate
Athletics Website - updates, blog, sports calendar, twitter, etc.
Alumni Tourneys
Booster Club organization for school/program
Officials assignments and pay through arbiter
Attends all faculty-related meetings and trainings
Facilities/fields scheduling & calendaring - practices & games
Organize opportunities for student-athletes to obtain physicals required to participate
Work closely with Athletic Trainer regarding concussion protocol and injured student-athletes
Attend meetings between coaches and parents
Sportsmanship development regarding fans and studentbody
Help head coaches facilitate camps/clinics
Create updated equipment/clothing inventories for each sport/program
File all athletics/programs' paperwork and documents each year
Bus/transportation requests w/ appropriate secretary
Hiring/recruiting coaches
Increasing numbers of participants and access for all to participation (Equity)
Student-athlete service projects in the community
Academic All-State Nominations for each sport/activity
Assigning announcer for high profile athletic contests/activities
Preparing gate boxes, supplies and assigning ticket-takers, etc. for home games/activities
Updating trophy cases yearly - establishment of a prestigious area of school wherein noble accomplishments are featured for public/students
School-wide fundraising calendar
Works closely with Secondary Supervisor to update Junior High Board of Managers Handbook, and to create a High School Athletics/Activities Coaches Handbook, uniform/policy-aligned team disclosures for each sport (aligned closely with new fees schedule/fee waiver legislation), and constitutions (Drill, Cheer, Student Government)
Will establish an inspiring mission, vision and strategic plans to promote athletic- and extracurricular-centric cultures at the school (e.g. Who are we? Who do we want to be?)
Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position: Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.

Qualifications:
Has valid Utah teaching license
Head coaching experience preferred
Has knowledge of UHSAA rules and policies
Willingness and ability/follow-through to earn NIAAA Certified Athletic Administrator Certification within 3 years
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during practices, games, and events
Capability to move quickly across athletic facilities (fields, courts, gymnasiums) as needed
Sufficient stamina to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
Ability to lift and carry moderate loads (e.g., sports equipment, supplies, up to ~25-50 lbs)
Adequate mobility to navigate bleachers, stairs, fields, and locker rooms
Ability to maintain focus and attentiveness in busy, high-energy environments
Good visual and auditory acuity to monitor activities, ensure safety, and respond to issues
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
Physical capability to assist in emergency situations, including basic first response if needed
Manual dexterity to handle equipment, paperwork, and technology used in athletic programs
Ability to drive or travel between facilities, events, and schools
