Job Description:

Bellarmine University Athletics is searching for an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for:

  • On-site care of Student-Athlete injuries/illnesses, including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries
  • Coordinate and implement prevention programs and strategies in conjunction with the Strength and Conditioning staff
  • Electronic documentation of all patient encounters through injury tracking EMR
  • Communicate with Team Physicians, other allied health professions, and coaching staff regarding injury status and treatment plan of Student-Athletes
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room. Ensure that student-athletes use equipment and facilities properly, including adherence to Athletic Training Room time schedules and proper operating procedures
  • Provide daily medical care for assigned student-athletes per the Athletic Training Department standard operating procedures
  • Assist with filing and resolving issues concerning secondary insurance
  • Perform administrative and other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer

  • Evaluation, Treatment, and Rehabilitation of Student-Athlete injuries
  • Work with Sports Medicine team to design and implement pre- and post-injury programs
  • Travel with athletic teams as assigned and directed
  • Critical thinking and independent decision making regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines
  • Organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
  • Communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, coaches, staff, and families.
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

  • BOC Certification
  • Master's degree from a professional athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
  • Eligible for KY Medical State License
  • Current Fist Aid and CPR/AED certification
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
