POSITION SUMMARY
Under the daily direction of the middle school and high school principals, and under the annual supervision of the supertintendent, the Athletic Director is responsible for the daily operations and planning for District athletics, coordinating, directing, supervising, and evaluating all coaches and athletic programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District Policies and procedures
- Trains, supervises and assists coaches and athletic support staff.
- Evaluates the performance of all coaching staff on a regular basis.
- Keeps Superintendent and Principals advised of all problems and changes and makes recommendations as they are needed and/or desired.
- Attend AD meetings and keep district programs in compliance with WIAA rules.
- Schedule and coordinate transportation and facilities for all home and away athletic events.
- Maintains an inventory and recommends the purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Ensures maintenance and care for all uniforms and equipment and makes repairs as necessary.
- Initiates purchase orders for materials, as needed.
- Tracks student grades and eligibility.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.

MARGINAL DUTIES AN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Attends staff meeting.
- Reports issues to authorities as necessary, animal control, suspicious activity, etc .
SUERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and directs the work of coaching staff. All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

Educations and/ or Experience: High school diploma required, two year degree or more preferred, coaching experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Ability to interact with students and staff appropriately.
Language Skills : Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Mathematical Skills : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, scaling, and basic thermo conversion.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, draw valid conclusions where only limited standardization exists and does so in a timely manner and within dollar constraints. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practice al problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.)
Computer Skills: General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use standard school software, internet software, e-mail, spreadsheets and word processing software. Ability to proficiently use the following programs strongly preferred: MS Word, Excel, Internet Explorer/or Chrome, and Google mail. The athletic director is directly in charge of the Final Forms athletic scheduling system and must interface with state systems for scheduling and registering for events.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, members of the community and vendors. Ability to exercise good judgement and work in a dynamic environment.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certificates as determined by the District. Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card, concussion impact testing certification, Washington Drivers License, bloodborne pathogen training and blood spill training. Previous hazardous communication training preferred. Ability to pass a WSP and FBI background check.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy in evaluation of all employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, sit, move about, hear and speak. Noise level may be high when operating power equipment. Employee may be required to work in restricted spaces to include crawling and/or climbing as well as working at heights. Required to stand, and / or be on feet, and move around for a full work shift.
Ability to work using ladders, scaffolding, mechanical lifts and district vehicles. Ability to spend most of the work-day standing, lifting, and walking. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and move heavier materials using appropriate equipment.
Specific vison abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to properly use such safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.
Ability to communicate in person, by radio, electronically and over the phone. Ability to use computer equipment to complete reports, generate service orders, maintain inventories, etc.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works outside in all weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. S/he may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious material or illnesses during the course of regular duties.
Work duties require frequent travel to and from all district locations. Will be available to fire and police departments on a 24-our call basis when conditions warrant. Occasional attendance at meeting or activities outside of normal working hours may be required.
