PURPOSE

The Assistant AD for Annual Giving will oversee all aspects of Islanders Athletics annual giving fundraising, including annual fund and the Islanders Club, and will create a strategic plan for philanthropic annual giving growth in athletics development. This role is focused on growing participation in annual funds and the Islanders Club, executing associated events throughout the year, and building a sustainable annual fund operation. The position is forward facing as a key point of contact for Islanders Athletics donors and colleagues throughout campus. This position will report to the Deputy AD / AVP for Intercollegiate Athletics and have a dotted line reporting to the Executive AVP for Development in Institutional Advancement.

DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Annual Giving Fundraising 60%

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors for Islanders Athletics Islanders Club leadership annual giving program

  • Develop, implement and evaluate annual campaigns for all Islanders Athletics annual giving programs

  • Manage all Islanders Athletics external annual giving relationships, including vendors and other institutional partners for the successful execution of the annual giving program

  • Manage solicitation program of team excellence funds

  • Coordinate with the University's Director of Annual Giving and Development Officer on solicitation timing, mailing list, and messaging to ensure solicitations are coordinated with other efforts across campus

  • Coordinate with Advancement Services team to monitor and evaluate the growth, cost effectiveness, return on investment and productivity of all Islanders Athletics annual giving programs

  • Coordinate with the Associate Director of Donor Engagement to ensure the implementation of an effective donor recognition plan for Islanders Athletics annual giving donors

Functional Area 2: Events and Hospitality 20%

  • Lead the planning and coordination of Islanders Club events

  • Plan and host events as needed for the Islanders Athletics annual giving program

  • Attend and assist at designated Islanders Athletics and University Institutional Advancement events as appropriate

Communications 15%

  • Manage communication platforms used to connect with Islanders Athletics' annual giving donors, former student athletes, and friends.

  • Build and maintain the Islanders Club website and social media presence.

Other Duties 5%

  • Other duties as assigned by the VP for Student Engagement and Success & Intercollegiate Athletics or Deputy AD / AVP for Intercollegiate Athletics in coordination with the Executive AVP for Development and Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in an applicable field.

  • Two (2) years of related experience.

  • Additional education and/or experience may be considered as a substitute for the minimum requirements:

    • High school diploma/GED with six (6) years of related experience

    • Associates degree in an applicable field with four (4) years of related experience

    • Masters degree in an applicable field

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Willingness and ability to travel.

  • Knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Ability to maintain a thorough knowledge of, and adhere to, all University, Association, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree.

  • Experience in a development position or a related external athletics field.

  • Experience in Raisers Edge or similar CRM database.

  • Intercollegiate athletics development experience.
