The 1st Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the golf department and ensuring an exceptional experience for members and guests. This role supervises non-exempt golf staff, manages pro-shop merchandising, and oversees daily pro-shop operations, outside services, and golf-related activities while maintaining company policies and operational standards. The position supports member engagement and satisfaction through leadership and operational excellence.

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Completion of PGA certification highly preferred (minimum level 2).
  • Strong customer service experience with extensive knowledge of golf fundamentals.
  • Ability to handle confidential company information and sensitive employee matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest level of ethical work standards.
  • Train and lead golf and pro-shop attendants and outside services staff to ensure exceptional customer service and prompt resolution of member concerns.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and recommendations regarding compensation, advancement, and training.
  • Address personnel matters including counseling, warnings, suspension, or termination in coordination with HR and management.
  • Develop and oversee work schedules and recruit and hire qualified personnel.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of outside service areas, practice ranges, and golf cart storage.
  • Enforce company policies, safety protocols, and conduct codes.
  • Oversee all golf operations, including the pro-shop, outside services, and practice facilities.
  • Manage pro-shop merchandise financial performance, including profit and loss, budgeting, inventory control, and purchasing strategies.
  • Optimize merchandising through displays, pricing, promotions, and member order fulfillment.
  • Plan and execute club tournaments and special events and oversee the handicap program.
  • Foster member relationships by promoting golf programs and participating in community-building activities.
  • Guide staff in delivering clinics, private lessons, and programs for adults, juniors, and seniors aligned with Invited and PGA standards.
  • Provide leadership of the golf department in the absence of the Director of Golf/Head Golf Professional.
