Westchester Hills Golf Club in White Plains, NY is seeking a full-time 2nd Assistant Superintendent. The role is suited for a motivated individual interested in contributing to a positive experience for members and guests while continuing to grow knowledge of golf club operations.

  • Bachelors degree or Associates degree from a four- or two-year college or technical school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred degree focus in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science.
  • 3 to 4 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must have a valid pesticide application license.
  • Regularly works in wet or humid conditions and near moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Regularly wears safety equipment that covers the entire body and may trap body heat and moisture.
  • Perform routine safety inspections on all spraying and fertilizer equipment.
  • Read, understand, and keep up-to-date material safety data sheets (MSDS).
  • Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Ensure the safety and direction of chemical/fertilizer handlers and helpers.
  • Maintain logs of applications and file related reports.
  • Be responsible for hand spraying and maintaining proper mixing amounts and application techniques.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge of chemicals and fertilizers being applied.
  • Ensure proper calibration of all spraying and fertilizing equipment.
  • Supervise and assist maintenance staff with daily duties.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
  • Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Address all real or perceived environmental concerns directly.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining associates, and resolving problems.
  • Manage department members, including Environmental Technicians.
  • Assure effective orientation and training for each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
  • Monitor business volume forecasts and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as required.
