Job Summary

Grand Ledge High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the JV Girls Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, a commitment to fostering a positive team environment, and the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. This seasonal position requires effective communication skills, a focus on player development, and a dedication to promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
• Conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all athletes.
• Organize and manage game day preparations, including team logistics and player rotations.
• Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
• Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player progress.
• Collaborate with the head coach and other coaching staff to align on program goals and objectives.
• Promote the overall health and well-being of student-athletes, including physical conditioning and injury prevention.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of players for the program.
• Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on current coaching techniques and strategies.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferably in basketball.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with student-athletes.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain prior to the season.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must pass a background check and adhere to all school and district policies.
• Commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
