Job Summary
Grand Ledge High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the JV Girls Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, a commitment to fostering a positive team environment, and the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. This seasonal position requires effective communication skills, a focus on player development, and a dedication to promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
- Conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all athletes.
- Organize and manage game day preparations, including team logistics and player rotations.
- Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player progress.
- Collaborate with the head coach and other coaching staff to align on program goals and objectives.
- Promote the overall health and well-being of student-athletes, including physical conditioning and injury prevention.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of players for the program.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on current coaching techniques and strategies.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferably in basketball.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with student-athletes.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain prior to the season.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must pass a background check and adhere to all school and district policies.
- Commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
