This position focuses on promoting student-athlete growth through skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal responsibility while maintaining a safe and positive athletic environment aligned with school and district expectations. Qualifications/ Minimum Requirements: Previous coaching experience or participation in cross country, track, or related sport. Knowledge of training techniques, injury prevention, and conditioning for adolescent athletes. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to motivate and mentor middle school-aged students. Current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid (or willingness to obtain). Reports to : Athletic Director and works in coordination with the Head Coach. Responsibilities: Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices that develop endurance, technique, and overall fitness appropriate for junior high athletes. Instruct student-athletes in the rules, strategies, and fundamentals of cross country running. Promote good sportsmanship, discipline, and respect among team members. Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and team-related activities. Ensure compliance with school, district, and athletic association policies and procedures. Coordinate meet schedules, transportation, and communication with athletes and families. Monitor academic progress and encourage student-athlete academic success. Maintain accurate records, including attendance, eligibility, and equipment inventory. Maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities in an organized and safe condition. Inspect facilities and equipment to ensure safety standards are met. Communicate effectively with the Athletic Director, school staff, parents, and students. Physical Requirements: Ability to run, walk, and stand for extended periods. Ability to demonstrate running techniques and drills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Applications will be reviewed. 2. Based upon the assessment of the application, the most promising candidates will be contacted for a personal interview. 3. Following the interview process, a written recommendation will be prepared supporting the employment decision. 4. The recommendation for employment will be presented by the Superintendent to the Board of Education for consideration and action. 5.
