DORDT UNIVERSITY JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Head Men's Soccer Coach DEPARTMENT: Athletics REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics POSITION TYPE: Full-time administrative staff PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide leadership in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the Dordt University men's soccer team. The head coach supports the distinct mission of Dordt University and creates an environment in which student-athletes grow and develop through this experience to become insightful, obedient, and active servants in God's world. The coach leads in ways that enhance Dordt's reputation and brand with all audiences and furthers Dordt's mission. The successful applicant will also serve as an assistant director at the American State Bank Sports Complex. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Participate in the life of the Dordt University community Collaborate with the Director of Athletics to establish an annual set of performance goals (Annual Contribution and Development Plan) for the men's soccer program which will include objectives for the spiritual development of each player, enhancing leadership abilities within the program, emphasizing academic excellence, the internal and external brand identity of the program, and tiered expectations for wins/losses. Implement Defender Way initiatives into the men's soccer program. Develop a comprehensive men's soccer program: Plan trips, prepare itineraries, and coordinate with professors for all road trips. Schedule games, practices, and recruiting trips that bring the men's soccer program forward. Implement camps with the dual intention of increasing institutional enrollment and identifying potential prospects. Lead and supervise assistant coaches and oversee the junior varsity program. Work closely with the Director of Athletics to ensure compliance with the university, Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), and NAIA policies. Collaborate with the Director of Athletic Communications to provide messaging about the program to necessary audiences. Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters. Provide a meaningful experience for the student-athletes that parallels their greater Dordt University experience. Work closely with the head women's soccer coach to ensure all parties are aware of logistics involving facilities, schedules, and transportation. Engage the men's soccer alumni to generate further support for the program. Effectively utilize social media and other mediums to market and promote the men's soccer program. Collaborate with the Athletics Gifts Officer to generate revenue for the men's soccer program. Serve as an assistant director at the American State Bank Sports Complex Lead activity courses in the HHP department Performs other duties as required by the Director of Athletics. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and the ability to articulate and communicate the mission effectively. Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university. Prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy which can be found on the DU website (contact the HR Office if you need additional information). A Master's degree is preferred as the successful candidate may have additional duties in the athletic department or other areas of campus. Demonstrated successful coaching experience at the high school or preferably the collegiate level. Mature interpersonal, collaborative, and oral and written communication skills that indicate the ability to work effectively with students, faculty and staff, community members, and other professionals. Propensity to continue to grow and develop as a leader.
