Position Title Assistant Coach/Women's Volleyball Division Vice President Student Affairs(DIV) Department Athletics & Recreation Job Description

The Assistant Coach/Women's Volleyball assists the Head Coach with the overall operation of the College's intercollegiate volleyball team for the Fall season.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with tryouts for team formation after August 1, but before the beginning of the Fall season.
  • Assists with distribution and collection of all volleyball equipment and uniforms.
  • Assists with conducting a sufficient number of practice sessions each week, with each session lasting approximately one and one-half hours.
  • Ensures safety procedures are followed while coaching.
  • Travels with and occasionally drives the volleyball team in the college van to all scheduled "away" games.
  • Assists in ensuring appropriate conduct is observed by all team members and personnel at both "home" and "away" games and at all practice sessions.
  • Assists with the set-up, tear-down, and maintenance of game/practice equipment.
  • Assists with recruitment of team members from the college's general student population.
  • Assists with recruitment of team members from area high schools, in accordance with the college's recruitment policy.
  • Follows the College, NJCAA, and Region 20 standards of ethics.
  • Performs other assistant coaching duties as assigned by the head coach.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and confidentially with the college community and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population, while exercising discretion and good judgment.
  • Proven ability to work independently, as well as possess excellent decision-making and judgment skills.
  • Knowledge of how to run structured practices, game plans, and make in-game corrections as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field desired; recreation/physical education major preferred.
  • Previous volleyball coaching and/or teaching experience desired.
  • Must possess or obtain first-aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform the essential responsibilities/functions of this position.

  • Previous volleyball coaching and/or teaching experience desired.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, & sit, sometimes for long periods at a time
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive hand/finger movement
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, etc.

Salary $2,156 (seasonal) Schedule Days/Hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
