Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus is located in Sullivan, Maine. Our amazing campus is located approximately 15 minutes east of Ellsworth and 40 miles east from Bangor. In addition, we are just a short drive to Bar Harbor and the beautiful Acadia National Park. We are seeking a full-time administrative position to serve as our campus-wide (grades 6-12) Athletic Director. We are looking for someone who is collaborative, reliable, and an enthusiastic team player.

As Athletic Director this individual will prepare and maintain a budget for interscholastic athletic programs; assist with preparing fields and grounds; prepare reports as required by the school administration, superintendent, and school board; work with the school administration, community organizations, and state athletic directors to improve and promote our athletic program; report, document, and file all athletic injuries per district protocols; educate students, parents, and coaches on proper training protocols to minimize injury; verify that all participants have a physical examination, proper permission forms, and insurance verifications before the start of tryouts per school committee policy; check student eligibility per MPA and school board policy; plan, supervise, and attend recognition programs for school athletes; maintain a monthly athletic calendar; serve on district and community committees relating to athletics and recreation, as requested; supervise on-site athletic activities and perform athletic-related administrative duties during the months of June, July, and August as needed, coordinate the use of district facilities and fields to meet the needs of all stakeholders; hold pre-season meetings with field and gym users to best meet the needs of the district and community; assist our current administrative team with the planning and development of athletic fields for our new campus; supervise and evaluate all coaches on an annual basis; evaluate athletic programs on an annual basis and recommend and implement changes to improve athletic programs; work with the building administration in interviewing and making recommendations to renew coaches or hire new coaches; provide orientation and in-service programs for coaches and other athletic personnel; revise, as needed; work with building principal on issues concerning coaches.
