POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: JCHS Head Cheerleading Coach

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of bachelor’s degree with a teaching license. Must be employed as a full-time teacher within Johnson County School System, attain employment with Johnson County Schools, or hold a valid Tennessee teaching license.

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Cheerleading season and off-season work

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the JCHS Cheerleading program and be responsible for the oversight of the program and all related duties (stipend in addition to teacher salary).
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Director, Principal, and Supervisor to provide the best opportunities and experiences for student-athletes and cheerleaders.
  • Promote a positive culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, accountability, school spirit, and student growth.
  • Foster and maintain a fair, positive, inclusive, and respectful environment where all participants are treated with dignity and provided opportunities to develop and succeed.
  • Organize and supervise practices, performances, competitions, camps, conditioning activities, and offseason development opportunities.
  • Evaluate student performance and progress in a timely, consistent, and objective manner.
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents/guardians, administration, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate game-day, competition, and school event responsibilities while representing Johnson County High School in a professional manner.
  • Assist with the upkeep, organization, inventory, and general maintenance of cheerleading equipment, uniforms, and related facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all TSSAA rules, school board policies, and school procedures.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for students both on and off campus.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Supervisor.
