Overview:
The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 womens and 10 mens programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nations premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.

Posting Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Coach Track and Field for Athletics Facilities & Operations. This position works under the direct supervision of the Director of the Track and Field program.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Coaches the Pole Vault which provides an opportunity for student-athletes to practice and compete on a competitive, Division I track and field program while attending school to earn a college degree.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining a nationally competitive intercollegiate track and field program coaching the pole vault within the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA .
  • Recruits high level academically and athletically skilled students to attend Rutgers to earn a degree and to compete in the track and field program.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting practices and competitions at a high level of efficiency and success. This position will be involved with operational duties when the team is traveling.
  • Assists in developing, teaching and instructing the student-athletes in the proper rules of competition, conditioning. skills and techniques on the field and in life-skills and leadership qualities on and off the track.
  • Assists in fundraising and public relations events that support the objectives of the program and allow for program enhancements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations relative to proper rules of play in the sport of track and field.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate with student-athletes and the media.
  • Computer literate.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • D1 Coaching experience at the Power 5 intercollegiate level, 5 years.
