Trevor Day School’s Athletics program emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership. Our coaches are committed educators who teach our student-athletes the importance of collaboration, commitment, and hard work while instilling self-confidence and respect for others. We welcome candidates for a Varsity Girls Volleyball Assistant Coach for the fall 2026 season. This part-time, stipended position begins August 10th and ends November 7th. Practices generally occur Monday through Friday. Practice times vary between 3:30 and 7:00 pm, but matches may run beyond that time. Practices are held at Trevor’s Middle and Upper School at East 95th Street. Games are held in and around the NYC region. Coaches are a vital part of the Trevor community, and we encourage them to take advantage of meals on campus, schoolwide events, and other activities. The stipend ranges from $2,275 to $3,900 for the 13-week season.
Responsibilities:
Attend all practices and matches.
Help create and execute all practice and match plans.
Oversee team operations and administrative duties.
Coordinate travel logistics.
Attend all necessary athletic and school meetings.
Communicate regularly with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administrators.
Provide leadership and give detailed feedback to student-athletes.
Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; minimum of one year of relevant coaching experience.
Previous high school or college playing experience is preferred.
Strong understanding of volleyball skills and strategies.
Growth mindset and passion for learning.
Ability to form strong professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
Commitment to equity and inclusion.
Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, independent school setting
Positivity, flexibility, patience, and a sense of humor.
Candidates must complete 1) the Centers for Disease Control’s HEADS up concussion awareness training and 2) First Aid/AED/CPR certification before the start of the season.
