Position Title Assistant Women's Ice Hockey Coach Overview

St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. Job Responsibilities

Recruiting

  • Athletics software usage to correspond with recruits
  • Corresponding via mailings, phone calls, Teamworks software and emails
  • Assist in scheduling and setting up recruit visits
  • Attending off campus recruiting events
  • Attending high school games and showcase tournaments

Team Management Support

  • Assist in practice planning, organization, and coaching
  • Assist in scouting and game preparations
  • Competition day duties as determined by head coach
  • Assist in supervising team during away competitions
  • Assist in the inventory and care of uniforms and team equipment
  • Help organize and participate in fund-raising activities

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all NCAA, conference, departmental and institutional guidelines and policies
  • Demonstrate leadership and professional behavior when dealing with all constituent groups, including and prioritizing student-athletes, athletics department coaches and staff, and all members of the University community
  • Yearly NCAA rules test participation

Education / Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Women's ice hockey knowledge

Preferred

  • Collegiate ice hockey playing experience

Competencies / Skills

  • Ability to demonstrate ice hockey related skills
  • Interpersonal skills between students, staff, alumni and friends of the University

  • Must be able to demonstrate ice hockey related techniques.

Well lighted, well ventilated pleasant work area. Work with students and accompany team when traveling.

Equipment to be Used

Must be able to be proficient in word, excel and able to learn other ice hockey related computer programs. Train and become proficient with the Teamworks software for recruiting and managing student athletes. Equipment related to sport.

Job Type Part-time Work Hours

Must be able to work weekends, travel, drive rental vehicles and be away from home for extended periods of time. Extensive weekends and evenings required of the job.
