Job Summary
The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the head coach in all aspects of the athletic program, including player development, team management, and administrative tasks. This role involves assisting with practice planning, game preparation, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment for student-athletes. The Assistant Coach will work closely with players, fellow coaches, and school staff to uphold the program's values and promote sportsmanship and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Player Development:Assist in planning and conducting practices, training sessions, and game strategies.
Provide individualized instruction to help athletes develop skills, improve performance, and enhance their understanding of the game.
Support student-athletes in their physical, mental, and tactical development.
Promote teamwork, discipline, and a strong work ethic among players.
Assist in scouting opponents and developing game plans.
Help organize team logistics, including scheduling, transportation, and equipment management.
Support game-day operations, including warm-ups, in-game coaching, and post-game analysis.
Ensure a safe and respectful environment for all athletes and staff.
Serve as a role model for student-athletes by demonstrating sportsmanship, leadership, and professionalism.
Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that aligns with the school’s mission and values.
Assist in monitoring student-athletes’ academic progress and well-being.
Assist in coordinating team events, camps, and community outreach activities.
Help manage team communication with players, parents, and school administrators.
Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and league policies.
Assist in fundraising and program development efforts as needed.
Key Qualifications
Education:
Prior coaching or playing experience at the middle school, high school, or collegiate level.
Knowledge of sport-specific strategies, rules, and techniques.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel for practices, games, and team events.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
